Every year, Nevada Boys State sends two representatives to represent the state at Boys Nation in Washington, D.C. Boys Nation is a week-long program that takes place in the weeks after Boys State.
Instead of the variety of positions that people are elected for at Nevada Boys State, each representative at Boys Nation is already considered a senator for the program.
While at the program, these senators will form committees to discuss the legislation that each senator has sent in before the program begins.
While at the program, senators will learn how legislation is formed on the national level instead of the state level, make bonds with other future leaders across the US, and attend talks with experienced lobbyists and legislators.
Between talks and debate, senators travel to the United States Capitol Building, the Arlington National Cemetery, war memorials, and other sites that are important to our nation’s history. While on Capitol Hill, senators will have the opportunity to meet with congressmen and women from their home state.
Boys Nation is an incredible all-expense paid opportunity available to two delegates that attend Nevada Boys State each year. There are counselors on staff that attended this event, and many Boys Nation alumni have gone on to do incredible things both in the realm of politics and out.
